From: Tom Jarvis Subject: Recall of vehicles Hello, I am sorry that I have to write this letter, but I need help in getting this problem solved, and you or a section you know of I believe can do that. I am the proud owner of a Mitsubishi Town Box, now do not laugh yet. I have owned this van for about 10 years and I love it. I have three cars but I seem to make this one my primary car I drive every day. I take care of this car; I change the oil every 6 months with only the best of oils. I change my other fluids every year. This van has leather seats, a 5 speed gear box and not one scratch on the paint, how many people can say that about a car that is 10 years old? From the first time I ever started driving ( I am now 70 years old ) I was taught that every time you fill up your car with gas you change your odometer back to 0, this way you are able to see how many Km you are getting to a liter of fuel. If you see a big change then something is wrong. Maybe spark plugs, air filter or whatever. But something needs to be looked at. Then again this only happens slowly over time. My problem is that my car was recalled last month for fear of catching on fire. I took it into the dealer here in Okinawa Japan in Okinawa City and they made the changed needed. Then reset my computer and changed my manifold. That’s fine and they gave me a loan car and was very nice about it. Then as soon as I drove it away, I went to the gas station and filled it up. After I ran the first tank of gas to empty I was shocked, the mileage was very poor. Ok, So I am thinking maybe it takes time for everything they did to set it, so I ran another tank to empty and again no change. I am getting 8 Km to a liter of gas that is really bad for a K-car with a 660cc engine. I also own a Benz and I am getting 11 Km to a liter in town with it, and it has a much bigger engine and a heavier body. This 660 something is wrong. I took it back three times and they said they made calls and the changes they made should not have done anything to the mileage. Well it did and I am not very happy about this.
